lower grille bars for a 50 super/commodore between the parking lights

prefer nice original NOS chrome, but will consider replated bars.
  • What we need is a forum, similiar to the Street Rod forum, dedicated to Hudson parts for sale/trade/etc.

A virtual Hudson swap meet online, accessible from the main Hudson forum.

sounds like a job for the venerable Mr Battle.

I agree, a subforum seems like it would make a great virtual marketplace. This forum seems to be the most trafficed Hudson sight, and there are plenty of regulars that could help keep an eye on supicious posts.

    Matt
  • If they don't want to set that up I have a complete parts section on my forums that can be used for this. And as usual its all Hudson all the time....

Unabashed plug of course. You've got a great site, wish more would visit!

Needed: 1950-51 Tail Lamp Housing for Hornet/Commodore. Prefer original not pitted badly. For rechroming later, mine is pitted really badly.:D

If something like this could be set up, I'd be one of the first to post the literature I have on CD's, like the 1949-1954 Service Merchandisers, the General Info Handbook and the 1940-1947 technical book I've put together.

    Hudsonly,

    Alex Burr

    (poster of shameless commercials):D
  • Thanks tristansdaz. If you want I can change your old ID on my site to your new ID. Sad to see you sell the 54 Hornet.

And Alex if you want I can setup a section in my downloads for you to put your docs. Allows you to control them and post them yourself. But hey its just a suggestion......(shamelessly helpful plug)

How about using the ClassicCar Classified section.... they would live to see it used more than it is. Problem is it isn't free to sell a car and the swap section isn't up and running yet. Sooo how about Dave Sollon's site, free classifieds. It has been there for years.

I might have a set that are decent cores... let me dig, but I have some doubts...

I would like to find a real nice, either NOS or early takeoff set as well, but what I got on the car is liveable, for now....

If you don't mind, please change. Belive it or not, the buyer of the '54 was the guy that I bought it from on EBay:eek: He was going through a tight financial situation a year a go when I bought it from him. I've encouraged him to join the HET. I just decided to put my energies into the '51 Hornet convert that I got from Bill Albright.

Also, I think that if we ask, we can get a "Buy or Sell" category added to the Hudson portion of this site, same as the Street Rod sub forum. There's plenty of others out there that use that type of system such as: http://www.olskoolrodz.com/ or http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/index.php?

I have a set of 1950 Pacemaker leaf springs that were on a running driving car 5 years ago. They are still wrapped in metal just like they came from the factory but I have no idea how good the rubber strips are between the leafs. I know the pair will fit the Pacemaker/Wasp 119" Wheelbase, not sure about the senior models (124" wheelbase) $100. Giving all you fine people first crack at them instead of of listing them on Ebay. EMAIL" HETad19789@hotmail.com (drop the "HET" form the address)
  • I have seen the Hudson Logo Pad Locks on Ebay but not latley. For some reason I feel the need to get one. Is there anyone here that has and feels the need to sell one ? Thanks, Ron sultans@webtv.net

Aaron, I've sent you an e-mail about those springs.

I also need a good set of original rear U-shackles for my '49. Somebody had installed a set of "ladder" shackles to make up for the lack of spring arch.

Hudsonator - I didn't recieve the Email yet. Did you drop the "HET" from my Email address? For some reason the forum won't let me private messege you either. At any rate I know the leaf springs I have will not fit a convertible as those have beefier springs but I'm not sure about a '49 stepdown of standard wheelbase. It might fit Anyone out there know ???????

I'll also throw in the shackles to it with whatever hardware there is.
  • Aaron,

Yes, I dropped the HET off your address and haven't gotten a "cannot deliver" message back - so its out in cyberspace somewhere?

As far at the "fit", this is what my Master parts catalog says 48-54:

    Spring & cover assy-rear Load 950 Rate 120...1948-52, 4C,5C,7C,4D,5D,6D,7D

    Spring & cover assy-rear Load 975 Rate 140...1948-52, 4C,5C,7C,4D,5D,6D,7D

The only notes regarding rear springs:

Standard load and rate rear springs for 4Sed-2Sed-Cpe except 1C-2C-1D-2D-3D is 950-120. Standard load and rate on CvBro-Hlywd is 1000-120.

Covered and uncovered springs were used intermittently on 1948-1954 models.

Uncovered spring assemblies have the same fitments as above for the spring & cover assemblies, but are listed with different rates.

    part # Load/Rate

    305443 950/120

    305667 950/120

    305668 1000/140

    305669 975/140

It appears the only difference is the spring load capacity, but fitment is the same for all the stepdowns except Jet.

I am interested in the springs and shackles. Try e-mailing me at HEThufarm@nctc.com

    Drop the HET.

    Thanks,

    Mark
