Stirring The Pot: Part II - Hud Sub or Not?

Wow! Great responses All on the first thread. Everyone was civil, upbeat and presented themselves nicely to all and to the outside world!

Something has been knawing or brewing in the back of my head for a bit so I'll outline it here and put it up for a poll vote. (Whether the forum makes any changes is a whole other issue :) )

The Poll question is simple... Do we really need the Hudson sub-forum : Street Rods?

Personally I do not think we need the sub-forum. I think it's turning out to be devisive and un-needed. Why?
  • It segregates all of us based on a particular "type" of Hudson build.
  • If fosters the "Us vs. Them" mentality.
  • Help Eliminate duplicate posts
  • IHHO it is much worse to tell a new forum member to "...go post your customizing questions on the Hudson street rod sub-forum..." than to just post your opinion in a way that doesn't demean or belittle someone just trying to get into the mix.
  • I HATE that the sub forum pushes the main forum interface down the page
Feel Free to Respond: I know you will ;)

  • DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER:p hudson dave  www.FatWhitewalls.com
  • As long as us rodders are not baraged with the usual babble and others just accept what we are doing with our cars instead of always telling us how we are ruining cars and how they would never do that, and so on, and so on, it really gets old and annoying. Somehow I don't think its going to happen though, there are some folks here that won't change their ways, so why should we have to listen to it?

My father used to say "if you got nothing good to say to someone, keep your trap shut." Wise words from an otherwise POS!

If the sub-forum is deleted and these guys keep up their crap, then I will not hold back and be a nice guy anymore. I fail to see why, because we are in a minority, we should just "have to put up with all the junk pushed our way." It can go both ways, it just hasn't up to now.

    Let me answer them:

    1. It is the rodders who are constantly made to feel like we are segregated out.

    2. see #1

    3. Duplicate posts arise because folks haven't learned to use the subforum yet.

    4. Your comment would be true if rodders were treated on an equal basis, we are not. The sub-forum is designed to help minimize the flak we must put up with generated on the main forum.

    5. The sub-forum takes up little room on the header, in fact its harder to destinguish from the main forum I think, but I'm glad to have it.

So you see, my request for the sub-forum was a reaction to what some of us perceived as a segregation heaped upon us, not that we asked for that treatment. As I have stated plainly before, you don't hear the rodders harassing the restorers about what they do to their cars, but somehow, we are supposed to accept nasty and condescending comments directed toward us.

Sorry, homie don't play that game!

With all due respect....can't we just let this thing rest for awhile?

    That sounds fine to me.

    ;) Words to live by.

    Have a nice day

  • It doesn't appear that the sub forum is used that often. Page one of the posts has topics that haven't been commented on since July.

That being said, I don't care if we keep the rodder's forum, it still gets more action than most of the other manufacturer's forums here on Classiccar.com
