Hudson Stepdown Radios
Mrs. Mahon has a number of Hudson step-down am radios that are from her late husband's collection, she will listen to any offers on them, their condition (as far as functionality) is unknown, cosmetically they would clean up pretty nicely except the plastic lens over the dials are hazy and you cannot see the dial scale, this could be fixed with a piece of plexiglas, at any rate, they would look better than a radio delete plate.
I will communicate any reasonable offers on them that anyone makes.
Thanks,
Bill

Funny you mention radio delete plate. I got one by accident when up at Bill A's for my 54 Special. I thought it was quite appropriate since the Special was a stripped down Hornet. My radio didn't work anyway and it tipped the scale at almost 11 pounds. Radio delete plates are quite the rage now on 60 and 70's muscle cars. Some companies are even reproducing them. I got one for my 68 Olds 442 which the radio was missing in anyway. 45 bucks for grained plastic. At least the Hornets is chromed metal.0

Wow, that would be really something if your '68 442 was factory radio delete. 442s were top of the line cars I would bet nearly all of them had radios. I bet seeing the delete plate in there would make some people wonder.0

Back in the day, many of the "sleeper" Plymouths and Dodges (426 Hemi factory racers) were as light as possible, with radio and heater delete, for competition purposes. They could only race cars that were identical to those sold to the general public, and guys would buy anything if they could race it. So of course, the "if it don't go, chrome it" crowd decided that having a radio delete car really made it cool (kind of like spoilers on Ford Mavericks, etc.). Wonder how many of those radio delete plates got thrown away when the guy's wife said, "Look, Slick, I don't care how cool your stupid plate is, we're gettin' a RADIO!"0 -
I haven't had the 442 out to many shows because frankly it doesn't look very good. Was in pretty rough shape when I got it, but it is a real 442 A/C delete bucket seats and a 4 speed. Now you can see why I got so excited when I came across the radio delete plate for my 54 at Bill's. I figured a Hornet Special two door with a stick was about as stripped and as fast as Hudson got so a radio delete plate was only appropriate. Hey it took ten pounds out over the original radio.0

I have mine wear inline skates and hold onto the rear bumper..........doesn't help the drag coefficient, but I get to listen to whatever radio station I want! LOL0 -
