1941 Hudson Dealer Promo Car

Hi, I have a 1940 or 1941 Hudson Dealer Promo Car that was used as a display at a Pa. Hudson dealer in the 1940's. It is plaster and is 24 inches in length. It is a 4 door sedan and is burgundy in color. It is not like the 8 inch plastic or metal promo cars that everyone sees. Any information about it would be appreciated. I can send photos if anyone would like.

I don't know too much, except that I've seen these styling models from time to time over the past few years, going back as early as 1937. Often, the cars were '3-doors'. On one side you had a 4-door sedan, and on the other, a 2-door sedan (brougham). I have a feeling Hudson made copies of these, because I think I've seen copies of the same model multiple times. Possibly Hudson made copies and gave them to officials, dealers and other bigwigs. At different times I've seen people who had an original, offer copies of it ('in the raw') for Hudson enthusiasts to paint. So, yours might or might be a one-off original or it might be a copy made by the factory for dealers (such as the one you mention). With any luck, someone will add some further information on these models, here.
  • Jon, Thanks for the information. I never really looked at it closely until you commented on it. I have it displayed on my cabinet and pulled it down. It has one door on the driver's side and two doors on the passenger's side! Cool! Thanks again! The paint looks old or aged with the windows "silvered" somewhat like the Banthrico pot metal promos.

WTN is the White Triangle News. It's the newsletter for the national Hudson Essex Terraplane Club (HET).
