There's a used ten spline clutch disc being offered on ebay. I'm only familiar with step-down Hudsons and the six spline discs. Just out of curiosity, would one of you far more experienced gentlemen tell me when they made the switch from ten splines to six?

James, I will be looking at a cork clutch today that came out of an MG 4-CYL ENGINE and maby one out of a Rollsroyce (cant spell) to see if it is for one of them.

Have to go Hudson parts looking today. ( will let you know later )

    Thanks Rudy.

James, It is not a MG or a Rolls.

Must be an older Hudson product.

    Thanks Rudy.

The 10-spline centre was used 1927-1931 incl on essex, and 1930-'32 on Hudson. The '27-'29 were 9" with 72 corks, and the '30-'32 ones were 10" with more corks, sorry can't give the exact number. The '27-'29 Hudson also used a 10-spline clutch, but these were much bigger. The clutch plate in question is in fact a 1927-'28 plate, identified by the small holes in the centre. The '29 plates had much larger holes and were weakened a bit because of this, and tended to break across the web between the holes. However, they were a bit lighter, and therefore had less inertia which assisted gear changing somewhat. Here endeth the lesson!
