Transmission Alignment Bolt Length
When changing a Hudson transmission, it's advisable to use two alignment bolts (at the top) when removing or installing the transmission, to help with the main shaft and throwout bearing alignment, etc.
A while back, on the last forum, someone told me how long these bolts should be. It seems to me they advised on 5 inches length.
I've got a couple alignment bolts with the right thread that are 6 inches long. I wondered if these were too long, I might not be able to clear the bolts before I can clear the tailshaft of the floor opening.
Does anyone know how long these bolts should be?
Thanks, Doug

Hi Doug.,--- The posted length was 5" from a previous post. Why not cut your 6" studs to 5" to alleviate your concern?0

I took some measurements last night, and the 6" studs should work, even with the longer OD tranny. They really only need to be slightly over 4", but 6" will still work.
I guess I'm just being lazy, and not wanting to cut them off if not necessary.0
