Clutch Specs

I need to know what the cork thickness should be, I'm not able to find this info in the shop manual. What should they mic at to be usable? I don't want to reinstall disk that's just above specs, but like to know new and min. thickness, so I know where I'm at. Thought I was just gonna do a simple valve job, machine shop guy wanted engine out(it's a 254), so I pulled it. Took pan off to see how much sludge is in it, and found little pieces of babbit, combined with about 3/4 in. of sludge, heartbreaking. Oil cavatation. Car sat for many years, has only 54k on it, so I thought I'd fire it up, with the muffin rusted out I couldn't hear any rattles, and was amazed how good it ran on six of eight cyclinders. It would start iimmediately and idle very well. So I'm convinced I did it as a result of my excitement of bringing one back to life. I wished I had checked bottom end before I did anything. Being short of funds, I don't know if I'll have it done before next spring. Afterall I'm a poor guy in a rich guys' hobby. Machine shop guy says bring it on, so I guess it will be like the 262 I rebuilt 5yr; ago. Took 13 months to complete machine work. I'd take 50 here 100 there with long periods between. Sorry to be a crybaby, but was really looking forward to enjoying it before salt hits the roads here in Michigan. Clutch info would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Kim

I'm electronically brain dead, don't know how posted it twice. So forgive me , I'm embarrased.

There's a fellow offering an eight and transmission, a few posts down. If his is running acceptably, you might want to consider dropping it in your car and then taking your time to rebuild yours correctly, over the next few months or years.
