Help identifying an ESSEX
Hi!
I'm from Cali - Colombia - South America.
We're working on the restoration process (with my father) of an ESSEX (that he got from my grandpa) and, now when i do the research job, i've been found that the model number from the legal papers (and from the everyone's memory) it's wrong.
Under the hood, the number is 160499 like you can see on this photo:

On the papers says 1922.
On this page says 1924.
On others pages says 1926.
Like you can guess, we're confused now
Two others photos to help:

Thanks a lot

It is a 1924, "second series", according to Alex Burr's informative Hudson Handbook (part of which is reprinted on the internet, which you have already seen).
Incidentally, the wheels and tires are of the incorrect size. Here is a photo of a 1924 Essex for comparison. (Note that the radiator is plated in this photo; also, the steering wheel is on the right side, because this car was assembled in Australia)0 -
Thanks for the answer Jon B.
Yeah, we're thinking on 1924 too.
Can you point me to additional info about the original colors, technical manuals, etc?
Thks again for your help.0 -
You may wish to join the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club. All members receive a world-wide roster of the 3500 members and the cars they own. The library is well-stocked with technical literature that can be copied for members. And the Club Store offers certain items of interest to owners of these cars, as well. You can learn more at their website http://www.hudsonclub.org/ .
Also, you may wish to join the Essex group on Yahoo, at at http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/EssexSuper6/
You may continue to post questions here on the Forum. And you may wish to participate in our Chatroom at http://www.classiccar.com/hudsonchats/chatpro.cgi . One of our chatters is Geoff Clark of New Zealand, who is a foremost authority on repairing and restoring vintage Essexes. The best times to visit the chatroom are evenings after 8:00 PM (EST). If you don't find anyone there when you arrive, continue to return until you do!0 -
Thanks a lot, you're of great help for us.
We're thinking on joining the HET too. Definitly seems a huge source of info and a way to know other essex owners.
I'll visit the chatroom next days
Thks Jon!0 -
