drop out rear differential

Can someone tell me where the stamped ratio would be located? Or is there just a stamped code somewhere on the drop out housing?

To identify the ratio of the Hudson (not Dana) type rear axle a number is stamped on the flange of the differential carrier where it is bolted to the housing.  See the "5-9"?

thanks. now i know where to look. does the 5-9 mean 4.59 ratio?

For 1948-1952 Hudson axles:

5-9   is a 4.55:1

1-10 is a 4.11:1

7-12 is a 3.56:1
