Briggs Body Tags

I had been hoping to glean some info from the Model A Judging Standards

about the finish of the Briggs body tags. Alas, the Standards were mute on

the issue. Either no such tags were fitted to bodies for Ford Automobiles, or

for some reason this detail has been overlooked.

For anybody not familiar with this wonderful publication, it is published

by the Model A Ford Club of America and the Model A Restorers Club and

contains the collected wisdom of 70 years of Model A history and experience.

The detail is extraordinary, even down to such pedantic detail as the plated

finish on cotter keys used on the shock absorbers. Ford made 5 MILLION Model

As and they are such good cars that it seems like most of them have survived.

Not only do a large number of examples exist, but Ford kept excellent records

and these records were never destroyed. It's enough to make a Hudson guy cry.
