Thanks to everyone for inputs on the intricacies of the Stewart
Vacuum System. The drawing that Chris posted and the Xerox copies
that Pete sent made it all clear and I am happy to report that the
beast seems to be happily sucking along now. The main thing that I
learned that made it all clear is that the inner chamber comes out:
In my car, somebody had glued it down with Permatex and it was not at
all obvious how to get to the "flapper or check" valve. With the aid
of my old Boy Scout knife, I managed to open it up and it all came
clear at that point.....it was one of those epiphanes, guys.
