Brake Restore
Hello again,
I'm restoring all of the brakes on my '27 Hudson Sedan. I have
cleaned up all the brake parts and have reassembled all of the main
brake components including the brake shoes.
The new brake pads less metal shoes measure 3/8" (thickness). I have
adjusted the cam nut on the backing plate so that the brake shoes are
not expanded. I have taken one wheel apart, cleaned and painted the
drum, and attempted to place the drum over the brake shoes.
The drum goes on with quite a bit of difficulty and plenty of drag.
However, I have not completed assembling the wheel with the center
hub and wood spokes.
Should I be concerned at this point that the drum drags very tightly
and if so, what should I do if anything?
Thanks, Rick Gatling
