Burned at Stake
In an auto de feu action, my starter contact switch has managed to
burn up all the "stuff" that keeps it from shorting out. The switch
is mounted on the platform right underneath my starter and there were
some ashes of the dearly departed insulator that isolated the copper
moving contact from the shaft and spring and such. I will put three
pictures of the deceased in files under the folder "parts questions"
or the like. My questions are:
(1) Does anybody have an exploded view (no jokes, now) of the starter
contactor for a '29 Hudson engine? I need to know the shape of the
bushing that probably "used to" ride on my actuating rod.
(2) Is there, perhaps, a supply of these bushings elsewhere than in
the Bermuda Triangle?
(3) What is supposed to be the shape of the copper "floating
contact"? Mine has assumed kind of a bent and warped configuration
that tells me that it used to be otherwise..Two pictures of it are
among the three that I posted.
By the way, amidst the ashes of the contactor, there seemed to be
remnants of what looked like a nylon or other plastic thing
that "could" have been the bushing to which I refer in (1) and (2).
There WERE flames but I blew them out.
Thanks in advance.
