Re the interchangeability of '29 with earlier diffs, the whole nugget

assembly will interchange, but the crown and wheel and pinion was

re-designed, and has different profile and bolt patterns, so you can't fit a

'29 crown wheel onto an earlier carrier. The teeth are wider, and the

ratio, whilst staying the same overall, were 53/12 and 53/13, as against

49/11 and 49/12. This gave more tooth contact and spread the load further,

as the earlier units were prone to breaking teeth, particularly on the

49/12.
