Headgaskets Blown/Not Blown . . .

I had always thought of headgaskets as either good or blown - is it

possible that a slightly leaking gasket can be sealed by tightening the head

nuts? I have no problem trying it, but if the gasket leaked under load, won't

it give way under use. Hudson issued no torque specs, what figure should I

use? This motor has no washer under the nuts - aren't they required for

reliable figures?
