Painting Over Powdercoat?

I had the radiator shutters powdercoated to match the upperbody color on

my '26 Coupe project. I like powdercoat because it is tough and should stand

chipping better than standard paint. The problem is that the powdercoater

missed the color by a country mile and If I assemble them with the bright

green, they are going to look like they belong to another car.

I had Betz Speed & Color do a paint match and blend some touch up paint

for me a year ago. One of the neat things they can do these days is to take

the automotive paint that they mix and load it into a spray bomb so those of

us who are painting challenged can still make a good effort. I luckily

ordered two of these spray bombs in the upper body dark green.

I have often heard people talk about the need for getting "tooth" onto a

layer of paint that is to be resprayed and this makes a great deal of sense.

The question is, what grade of sanding paper would be appropriate for

powdercoat? Should I just wave the paper over the work a few times or make a

proper job of it?
