Super Six Gearlever

As the time gets nearer to install the "new" motor in the '26 Coupe,

there are a few issues to resolve that I hope someone might know the answer

to. The gear lever on the Coupe needs replating. Does anybody know if it was

originally finished in bright nickel or in butler finish?

How does it come off the car? It looks like the dust cover is held on by

a pin and can be readily removed. The lever looks to be held into the top of

the gearbox by a threaded ring with a segmented crown for some sort of

special tool.

What can I use to remove the ring? Is there any more to it? How does the

propellor shaft come undone at the back of the transmission? It looks to have

some sort of ball cover to keep lube in the U-joint. If I unbolt the cover,

does the connection have some sort of splined shaft like a modern box?
