Clutch Cover Gasket?

As I understand the process by reading through the '26 service manual, to

change out the motor, the clutch cover bolts and the bell housing bolts are

removed, allowing the transmission (complete with the clutch assembly pinned

to it) to be withdrawn from the flywheel. Assembly is the reverse of

disassembly.

Are there any tricks to know? Do I need a gasket or can I get away with

some of this new miracle hylomar blue silicone non-setting sealer such as is

used on some of the latest cars? You know, the ones with surfaces so exactly

machined as to eliminate the need for gaskets? Are there any distance issues

involved? If a gasket is required, how thick should it be and made of what

material?
