Mating The Clutch With The Gearbox

Boy, I thought I had done my homework and that mating the transmission

with the clutch would be a piece of cake. My friend Big Jim spun up a clutch

tool out of wood and it was a nice tight fit. I checked all the bits on the

bench, the pilot bearing fit the shaft and the flywheel, the recorked clutch

disk fit the splines of the input shaft and the throwout bearing fit both the

shaft and the pressure plate.

With the exception of the pilot bearing which was new and the clutch disk

which was replaced, all of these parts lived together in harmony with the old

engine. Anybody got any bright ideas? I'm going back outside to try to shame

it into place.
