Ground Straps

What do you reckon it's made of? Is it stiff or flexable?

I put some lacquer thinner in the gearbox to flush it and found that the

starter works fine even with no ground strap. I guess the bolts do the job.

Even so, I'll be wanting to make a proper ground, just to make sure.
