New Member With Interesting Car
I got a note from a fellow with a very interesting Super Six. He has
subscribed to our list and contributed posts over the past week or so. He has
a 1926 Roadster with a Pioneer body. The Pioneer Body Co. is related to the
Anderson Body Co. (the Co. that built my Coupe), but the relationship is
unclear. Tom has promised to send us some pics, and I for one can hardly wait
to see them. With his permission, I have reprinted below a portion of an
email that he sent me a couple of weeks ago. Tom is a State Senator in KY.
From Tom's earlier post to me:
"WHAT GREAT NEWS TO FINALLY FIND SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS THE PIONEER BODY.
THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT MECHANICS. IT HAS THE 6 CYL. AND RUNS FAST. TOO
FAST FOR THE BRAKES , AS DO MOST 1926 MODLES.
I HAVE BEEN RESTORING IT TO WHERE I AM FINISHED FOR A WHILE. HAD IT PAINTED
2 YEARS AGO AND HAVE NOT HAD IT OUT OF THE GARAGE. HAD THE WOOD SPOKE WHEELS
REFINISHED TO PERFECT. NEW WIDE WHITE WALL TIRES PUT ON AND DISCOVERED THAT
ONE RIM IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT CAUSES A FAIRLY GOOD WIGGLE IN
THE REAR 21" WHEEL. DO NOT WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE. THERE ARE 20 " TIRES ON
THE FRONT AND 21" TIRES ON THE REAR THE FLOORS, WHICH ARE WALNUT HAVE BEEN
REFINISHED. I NEED TO WORK ON THE FINISH OF THE DASH, BUT IT IS ACCEPTABLE.
THE SEAT COVERS ARE NICE, BUT I MAY REPLACE SOON. IT IS A RIGHT HAND
DRIVE-WHAT ABOUT YOURS? R OR L... I HAVE PAINTED THE CAR A PEARL OFF WHITE
WITH A SLIGHTLY SHADE DARKER FENDERS. IT LOOKS PRETTY CLASSY. SOME ONE HAD
REBUILT THE MOTOR BEFORE I GOT IT. IT RUNS STRONG- LIKE NEW. (BETTER). I
HAVE A FRIEND THAT HAS A SISTER LIVING IN SYDNEY, OH. SHE WANTS TO COME TO
KY. AND SEE THE CAR. SHE IS TO GET ANY INFO. ON THE COMPANY THAT CAN BE
FOUND. I HAVE A MANUAL FOR THE 26 HUDSON AND IT APPEARS TO BE ALL I NEED TO
KEEP IN GOOD RUNNING CONDITION, BUT I WOULD STILL LIKE TO SEE SOME 1926
PICTURES FROM OHIO, I WANT TO GET EVERTHING ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE. THIS CAR
WAS IN THE POSESSION OF PRESIDENT MANUEL NORIAGA IN PANAMA. I GOT IT FROM
AN AUCTION OF HIS ASSESTS AND HAD IT DELIVERED INTO MIAMI. IT WAS DELIVERED
TO HERE BY TRUCK.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA AS TO VALUE OF YOUR CAR.? I HAVE NO IDEA AS TO VALUE.
I HAVE IT INSURED FOR $20,000.00
YES, PLEASE SUBSCRIBE ME TO THE LIST. THIS IS GREAT.!!"
Snip!
"I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME PICTURES. I'LL TRY TO GET MY DAUGHTER TO STOP BY
AND SCAN MY PICTURES TO YOU.
DO YOU HAVE ANY 21 " RIMS FOR SALE-- I NEED ONE.??
