Shutter Assembly

    The shutter assembly was one of the most fiddly bits on the whole car.

    There is so little room to work that it reminds me of a modern car. The

    linkage here was lubricated by boat trailer grease on the probability that it

    might get wet at some point. There is a lot of friction in this assembly,

    maybe because this grease has too much "stiction." If I had it to do over

    again, I would assemble the shutters dry and lube them with some thin

    penetrating oil after the fact. The fabric lining might wick the lubricant

    out and the would be no "stiction."
