26 Roadster Pic Cracked!
Tom Buford send us a pic of his 1926 Pioneer bodied Super Six Roadster
that was in a format most of us couldn't make any headway with. My buddy Alan
cracked it last night with the big hammer for this sort of work, Photoshop. I
have uploaded the pic to the Members Cars folder in the Files section of the
list home page, (see signature line below) and attached a copy to this
missive.
Looking at the car, there are an awful lot of similarities between Tom's
Pioneer car and my Anderson car. The first thing I notice is that it has the
'27 headlights, a feature found on several other late '26 cars. Hudson sold
the Second Series '26 models as '27s when they were new. Tom, what does the
steering wheel look like? Is it also the '27 model made of solid walnut? The
nickeled shell is right for late '26, but I understand that export models may
well have had that feature earlier.
The cast steps for the rumble set look identical to my Coupe. Can you
send a good pic of the handle on the rumble seat deck lid? I have never been
100% sure I've got the right one. The cowl lights and door handles are
different, but that may be more the difference in body styles than any
Anderson/Pioneer differences. Boy, I wish we knew more about the relationship
between these two companies!
