This has been a topic of much discussion among old car people for years.
Lots of us would like to buy all the cars available at the prices published
in these guides. I used to subscribe to the guide you mentioned and found it
very useful for negotiating prices with sellers. For other purposes, the
guide just seems low. For example, I look at the price for '29 Town Sedans
and wonder how they can establish a market price on a vehicle that has a
total world population of less than 10 and move only once every several
years. The listed prices HAVE to be a guess based on a very limited pool of
information.
For your use here, take the guide along to beat the seller over the head
with, but don't take it too seriously!
