or '22 body except the front doors are hinged at the front! That came

about in mid'22. Then there is the side mount spare. Butler says

that '24 saw the spare moved to the rear. The engine doesn't have the

side draft carburetor like '23 and earlier. It is a puzzlement! Can

anyone enlighten? >>

I shot the pics with you in mind Zeke. That car was a puzzlement, which

was why I inserted the question mark after the year 1924. The few '24s I have

ever seen were ringers for the '25s. They both had the triple crowned

fenders, for example. The owner of this magnificent touring was a

knowledgeable gent named Evo from central CA somewhere. He was quite sure

this was a proper '24, but I still have my doubts.

In the 20s, Hudson had the somewhat disreputable policy of declaring the

second part of a year's production as being the following year's model. Could

this lovely big touring car really be a late '23, only "legally" a '24? I'm

pretty sure my '26 Coupe was originally sold as a '27.

As for the bevel and the doors, I can only speculate that perhaps this

car was built up from bits and pieces of other cars. If you look at the frame

at the rear of the car, the mounting lugs for the spare tire mount can

clearly be seen.
