Help! Need clutch problem cure for 29 Super Six
I ALMOST have the '29 Town Sedan in shape to take out on the street.
Fixed the carburetor leakage problem. Fixed the leaks around the water
pump shaft. Got the exhaust system installed. Engine purrs like a
kitten. (Well, a BIG kitten..)
But the clutch won't work. Even with the pedal fully depressed to the
floor, the clutch won't disengage. Test: put into first gear while
stopped. Depress clutch to floor. Turn starter motor. Car jumps forward.
I drained the pitiful 3 oz. remains of oil in the clutch, rinsed some
with kerosene, and then put in the requisite 3/4 pint of Hudsonite (half
oil, half kerosene). BTW, it's no picnic to get that plug back in, is
is? That didn't solve the problem.
Any suggestions what I might look at to fix this, short of total clutch
disassembly?
