29 Town Sedan seat mechanism problem solved
Hey, folks. I think I have resolved the seat adjustment mechanism
problem for my '29 Town Sedan.
I thought I was missing a bunch of stuff. I came to that conclusion
after inspecting the seat adjustment mechanism on Perry Spring's
gorgeous '29 Coupe.
But it has a completely different kind of mechanism!
I found the solution to the problem while dis-assembing the current seat
mechanism to document it with measurements and photos. It turns out
that the mechanism for the bench seat on the Town Sedan is much less
complicated than the one on Perry's car. One piece (made of pot metal,
naturally, is broken, and will need to be replaced. Geoff, if I can't
find someone to do the job here I will probably ship it over to New
Zealand and have your guy cast a replacement for me in gun metal. It's
not a big piece, and not terribly complicated. But it's essential. I
have glued it back together with JB Weld, but it doesn't have nearly
enough gluing surface to believe that would be a useful part....just
held together for casting purposes.
Anyway, for whoever's going to Hershey, please remove the seat mechanism
from your list of search items, if you were going to do that for me.
Lewis M. thinks he may have the right headlight switch for me, so that's
not an urgent item any more, either.
I do still need a second tail light if anyone finds one of them.
