Re: [HSS] Wire Wheels

These wheels are a son-of-a-gun to sort out. #5 Wheels are the larger hub

size used

on large cars of the Teens and Twenties. They were made by various

manufacturers

Houk, Hayes, American etc. They all have slight differences in them but

essentially

will fit. The number 4 hubs are slightly smaller and were made for

lighter cars.

The reason the 72 spoke #5 wheels are tough to find is the fact they were

on the

bigger cars including the Expensive ones. Also these wheels when left out

in the

elements with tires on them had a tendancy to rust out the rim. Gary

Another piece of the shrinking body of knowledge, one I had never heard.

Are all of these #6 wheels the same? What other cars used them?
