which the pin sits inside. It probably wouldn't matter if you didn't fit
these, as the later Hudson F-heads didn't bother with them. But then,
on the other hand, they used double valve springs on the Hudson, so
perhaps the thinking with the Essex was that it helped return the cam
follower, who knows!
