Rear View Mirrors from Jay Fisher: gorgeous!
Right after the New Year, I ordered a pair of strap-on rear view mirrors
from Jay Fisher of Clark, NJ, acting on the recommendation of several on
this list.
They arrived today, and I just want to tell everyone who was involved
that these mirrors are drop-dead gorgeous. Elegant design, beautiful
workmanship. His office manager says he's not going to continue making
these things for a whole lot longer, so if you want to get a set, it
would be better not to wait.
They aren't cheap, but they are worth the ticket. Superb, just superb!
I'll post a photo when I get them strapped onto the spare tires (which
will be a little while because I have the rims off to sand blast and
repaint them so they will look as nice as the mirrors).
BTW, I bought a new set of 6.00x19 tires to use as spares, and I still
have a pair of never-touched-pavement 6.50x19 blackwall Lester tires for
sale, if anyone wants them. These are excellent "running" tires -- 8
ply, with a rated load capacity of 1625 pounds -- about the strongest
tire you can put on a 20s Super Six. They retail for $119 each, and I
will accept any half-reasonable offer. They're slightly larger than
"stock," but work well.
I still have four of these on my '29 Town Sedan as "runners," but they
are too big to fit into the spare tire well, and thus not suitable for
the semi-decorative use to which spares are put on my car.
