Okay, from the horses mouth - I have just been to look at a 1919
Essex. The side lamps, like the ones in the ppic, are mounted on an
arm and attached with the top one of the two windscreen post screws.
The switch has markings on it "head, dim, side". On '22-'23 models the
cowl lights are minature drums, mounted on the cowl itself, in a hole
drilled on the flat of the belt line. This may have been only for
r.h.d. export models - who knows?
