Gene...In answer to your question on the 1917 firewall inside

material, my 1918 7-passenger Phaeton has wood on the inside of the

firewall, It is approx. 3/4 inch thick.It appears to be a stained

hardwood. I bellive that it is original as the rest of the car is

orginal unrestored except for the seats and top.

I would guess that the construction is the same for the 1918 and your

1917.
