NOt really necessary with modern oils, as you note, but if the pan

gasket is leaking then heck, it only takes 10 minutes to get the pan

off, and you can clean things up inside at the same time. There is of

course no slinger gasket on the super Sixes, (unlike the Essex and H

8's), as this is part of the crankcase and bearing cap casting.
