New ad image posted
I've just posted to the Files section on Yahoo a scan of a Hudson ad I
bought recently on eBay. I haven't seen this one around previously. It
shows a 29 Standard Sedan in red with black trim. The file is about
350K if you want to download it.
Interestingly, the image appears to be exactly the same as the Standard
Sedan illustration that is used in the big Hudson sales brochure, except
for two things. First, the brochure shows the Standard Sedan in Reseda
Green. Second, the images are left-right reversed. The artist moved
the steering wheel to the other side in which ever image was a mirror of
the original, and added a license plate and stop light on the left rear
on the version where it shows.
But there are a lot of little details...shape of reflections on the
fender, for example, that make me think this was basically the same
image, manipulated probably by flipping film over) rather than two
independently drawn pictures. You can see the green version on my web
site; go to the "What Model Is It" section and then click on the
standard sedan image to see a large scan of the green illustration,
taken from the sales brochure.
Interesting marketing detail, eh?
The ad I just posted was from the April '29 issue of Country Gentleman.
