ebay 24 Hudson Motor Pic
For those that received the mysterious MIME file, I have reposed the
previous email below minus the attachment. The Pic has been uploaded to the
Files section of the List home page, a separate post should have details on
viewing it.
The 1924 Hudson that Lew found on ebay has a number of original features.
This motor has the proper American Bosch distributor complete with the
old style screw on terminals on the plugs. Note the external condenser on the
dizzy, a sure sign the car has been messed with sometime in the Post War
period.
The oil pressure gauge pipe looks to have been disconnected at the
junction and the forward portion of the tube is not visible. The coil,
painted red in this example, looks old and may be the original style. It
would be interesting to find out if some previous owner thought he might get
a hotter spark if the coil were painted in a hotter color!
The vacuum tank, water manifold and radiator look to be as Hudson
installed them and even the hose clamps look as they should. The best part
for me is the hot air tube on the inlet of the carbie going back to the
original hot air box, a rarely seen feature. Most of these either rusted out
or were simply left off during overhauls.
As of post time, there were still no bids on this car.
