Re: [HSS] What oil?
In my opinion....do not use detergent oil....The reason is that detergent oil keeps the dirt, etc suspended in order for the oil filter to catch it. Obviously we don't have oil filters on our Super Sixes. But our engines are splashers...and any piece of crap suspended in the oil could find its way into the troughs and into the bearing and score it...or clog the passage and gall the bearing. Our engines we supposed to have the oil pan dropped periodically and cleaned out....a damned fine idea...but what a pain.
I purchase non-detergent oil (30W) at the local farm store...or it could be found at a large auto parts store.
