Shauns 28 Essex
My '28 2-door coach finally arrived yesterday. Started up first time
on the transporter, reversed off and then up the drive to the
garage. A thorough inspection post delivery then a drive to the
petrol station for fuel and a couple of times around the block to
ensured that everything worked OK. The odd bit of blue smoke
indicated that the engine needs some work, but otherwise all was
mostly OK. However, two things turned up which some of you may be
able to help me with:
- there is no air cleaner sitting at the air intake of the carby.
Has anyone ideas on what type/model I am supposed to have ? Photo of
RHS engine bay is posted in the photo section under NZ '28 Essex.
Note that my '28 is a Right Hand Drive. Steering box seen a bottom
left.
- there is "ring" (approx 3 inch dia. chamfered) loose around the
driveshaft. I presume it should fit around the rear universal
fitting. The diameter is approx 1/4 inch larger to the rear as
opposed to the front. There is a square notch in the internal
surface. However, I can't figure out how it attaches. Has anyone any
ideas? Again a photo of the rear driveshaft is posted in the Photos
section in the NZ '28 Essex folder.
Geoff - looks like this is the vehicle you did the suspension work on
a couple of years ago; hydraulic shock absorbers all around, sealing
around the front engine gaskets etc;
Thanks
