on. It may just be backlash or wear in the timing gears. By govenor, I
assume you mean the oil pump stroke regulating mechanism? If you have
disconnected this, I suggest you re-install it, as the eccentric could
be roaming at will. is this perhaps the source of the noise? Is the
clatter th same frequency as the engine revs, or is it slower? If
slower, it could be the oil pump gears, but I doubt it, this usually
manifsts itself with a regular grating noise, about every two or three
seconds with the engine idling.
