Re: [HSS] Re Pics

One of our members had an updraught Carter
carburettor on his '29 Briggs bodied town sedan, but we found an original Marvel
for him and I have fitted that. He says it goes much better with that. His
car is unusual in that it has 18" wire wheels, 7 stud, obviously off a l.w.b.
model.  It also had the 4.45 rear end, so we changed that to 4.1 and it
lopes along better with that, as he lives in a very flat part of the
country. I have a bronze bodied float bowl on mine too, off a '27
Buick.  I had to calibrate the main jet to suit the Hudson, and it goes
real great, and combined with the re-profiled cam I get good performance and
economy (17 m.p.g. average). My car also has the 4.1 rear end, and with 650.19
wood wheels, it is quite long legged, but still performs great on hills. I know
it should have 18" wires, but hey, they don't grow on trees!

Hi Brett, got the photos of the engine and the
carb etc. also Geoff's Essex door. Some guys here use a

down draft carb. off a Ford Falcon 250 motor, a
Stromberg 2 barrel. I have also seen one with a 2'' SU carb.

I prefer to leave my car as they were made with
the original Marvel set up. But I have a bronze float bowl.

I haven't been on the list for a while, but have
been watching all the news etc.

John.
