Re: [HSS] oil pump

Glad to hear the cam works. I know it made a huge difference to my car.

Have you carried out the eccentric adjustment, as in the handbook. This is

controlled by the position of the accelerator, and increases the stroke as

the throttle is opened. All it does is limit the return position of the

plunger, so that it has a short stroke at idle and long stroke at full

throttle. How have you ascertained that the oil is insufficient? I can't

help with distributor cap or points, sorry, but will keep my eyes open for

such items. I'm not sure of the ratio without actually counting the teeth

on the gear trains involved, but I know the amount of oil pumped is

adequate. I have a spare oil plunger spring if you need one. good

luck,

Geoff.

Subject: [HSS] oil pump

Geoff can you comment on how much oil the pump should deliver per minute, I

am suffering oil starvation to the dipper trays at higher revs and loads

but no problems on slow running. The spring appears ok on the plunger but I

do not have a rating for it. The pump is clearly geared down from the cam

shaft speed so if you could tell me the ratio I could work out the

theoretical delivery. Or am I being thick perhaps? Also need Distributor

cap and a set of points for the 1920 if you have any ideas?

Hope you are both feeling better.

best regards

Martyn

PS Cam shaft is good, a vast improvement!
