Wheel Puller and Hubcaps
Hello Geoff,
The wheel puller arrived today. I am very pleased with the workmanship and
quality of the tool. It looks like the sort of thing that could become a
family heirloom one day. That is if I am successful in persuading one or
more of my children to catch the antique car disease. And this tool
certainly seems superior to the device I used to remove the rear wheels from
my 1922 Oakland. It screwed on to the axle shart and then I beat on the end
of the tool with a 3lb. hammer. The wheel came of, but I was worried about
the axle and the tool.
Now I have a novice type question. Are there any suggestions for removing
the hubcaps without destroying them. I have an original hubcap wrench, but
if I twist very hard I can see the cap start to deforrm. I have thought
that applying heat from a small torch might work. What is the proper way?
Thanks
Bill Cobabe
