Re: [HSS] Crankcase oil slinger

I haven't done itmyself, but know of several owners who have machined out

the original seal retainer recess in the housing and installed a modern seal

in it's place. Pretty easy piece of machining for a competent machine shop.

Subject: [HSS] Crankcase oil slinger

When I took my 17 SS engine apart the oil slinger/spacer, that fits

on the crankshaft in the timing cover, was damaged. It has two

slinger ridges and one of them was completely gone. This part rides

against a felt gasket in the timing cover. Does anyone have

experience replacing this with a modern part? Dave Kostansek thinks

a new one will have to be made. Thought I would open it up for

discussion to see if any one else has had this porblem.
