Re: [HSS] Water Pump Shaft Needed

I had a new one made out of stainless for my 29 Hudson.

The guy cut off the original and bored the back of it, made a new shaft

from the gears back that plugged into the original shaft and then welded it

together. That way he didn't have to mess around with the gear drive set up

on the front. Ed Moore

Subject: [HSS] Water Pump Shaft Needed

Hi Guys,

I have a 1920 Super Six in my shop that is in bad need of a new

water pump shaft. The old one is pitted so bad that the packing just

won't seal it. Does anyone out there know if these shafts have been

reproduced over the years? I had a local machine shop buddy of mine

quote a price on making a new one but I thought I'd see if anyone

else has already "been there, done that..." Also, If I have to go to

the expense of having this thing made, does anyone else out there

need one, too? I'd guess he could get the price down a bit by making

more than one.

Any info appreciated!
