Re: [HSS] Really neat 29 Standard Sedan Cop Car on eBay

This is certainly an exciting car with many original features. I harbor a few doubts about the story, however. While the vintage police equipment looks convincing enough, it may well have been added later. If you remember, shows like Gangbusters & The Untouchables made twenties cars popular for a time in the 50s & early 60s. The claim of being a Chicago Police car in the Capone era certainly sexes up the story, but no EVIDENCE is presented.

A quick look under the hood reveals a reasonably modern generator/regulator combination and an electric fuel pump, obviously added in the modern era. The star on the door reveals very little other than at sometime, somebody painted one on.

Having said all that, the car looks to be in original paint with things like the dash striping fully preserved. I hope whoever wins this gem shares the historical windfall with us.

Perhaps we ought to email the winner inviting them to join us and send loads of great reference pics . . .
