Greetings Everyone! Thank you for the invitation to join, I have.
My name is Don Shank. I just purchased the 1929 Hudson Super Six 4
door sedan police car off eBay and couldn't be happier.
A little about myself; I'm 55 years young and the founder, president
and executive director of the Denver & Rio Grande Railway Historical
Foundation here in Monte Vista, Colorado. I'm a So Cal transplant.
I grew up in Encino, which makes me a "valley boy", but I've lived
in Colorado for a long time.
My foundation owns a 22 mile long portion of the old Denver & Rio
Grande Railroad, known as the Creede Branch. We are in the process
of rehabilitating the track in preparation for operation as a
tourist line with limited freight movement. This takes the bulk of
my time.
In addition to the rail line, I own several pieces of rail equipment
including a 1920 Alco Steam Locomotive built new for the Florida
East Coast Railway. The loco is currently in upper-Michigan, but I
am leaving for MI this coming weekend to oversee her loading and
shipping to Colorado. Once back, I am off to Oregon to retrieve my
[new] Hudson. When I get her home I'll shoot several pics and post
them on the clubs site for everyone to enjoy. Are there any other
former police cars in the group?
Well enough about me, I'd like to hear from some of you.
Thanks again for the invite!
Kindest regards,
Don Shank
