I think this car was for sale earlier in the year. Seem to remember it on ebay.0

This car is within a reasonable distance of me. If someone is seriously interested in this car, I could go and check it out.0
-
It finally is listed at a marketable and reasonable price. A hard to find car and has the original interior, assuming no rust, very nice.0

I don't know the car or owner - so I'm making my comments based only on what I see in the pictures and 1 picture in particular...
There's a saying the "Devil is in the Details" - I believe this particularly applies well to automobile work in general.
Looking at this picture - my gut is going to tell me its had a fairly poor cosmetic restoration or patch up job as evidenced by the poor paint quality in the jamb, overspray on the interior cording and rubber, flat head screws mounting the seal, poor masking overall in general.
If this picture is an indicator of the type of work done then I'd say this car is overpriced by about 6-10k. IMHO0 -
Your detective work is spot on! However, those of us who are local to the seller already know what to expect. This car reminds me of a grossly overpriced 76 Cadillac Eldorado convertible that they had for sale years ago. The car was from Texas and was so toasted, the top shrunk, weather striping turned to stone and the red interior had turned various shades of orange. But you know how it goes, they can come down on the price for a savy buyer or make a killing on a neophyte.0

I to am aware of this dealer and must ad that their cars need to be inspected very carefully. I have seen many #4 cars trying to be sold for a #1 price.0

Not too bad if you have the bottom seat cushions and door panels redone with original type material. SMS in Portland Oregon might have it. Looks like a#3, if there is no rust involved.0

While the guides are helpful, they aren't too accurate. There simply aren't any solid drivers out there for $12,250 or similar... none. Those days are gone.0 -
I sent this guy at Chicago Cars two requests for pictures of the underside of the car. He replied to one saying his hoist was busy but that he would get me the pictures. Nothing, so I sent another request saying this will not meet reserve if you do not show the underside. And I asked what shape the frame and floorboards were in ...he didn't know......
Don't ask top dollar if you are not willing to be up front about the car. I would never buy a car from these types of dealers unless I or someone I knew had gone over it......0 -
Although you'd think that the person(s) responsible for marketing and selling this car should know all about it and be able to respond to simple inquiries, it seams that selective memory and excuses are the order of the day.0

hmmm i think this might be the shonky mob that was recently given a big red flag by some guys over on the hokey assed message board. i cant for the life of me find the post anymore it was sealed up 'coz it was causing a major stir. the proprietor of a shop in illnois (cant remember the name of the place but i really get a feeling this is it) his first name was russell cant remember his surname either but he sold a bloke a 34 "ford" coupe(you know one of those ones that dont have a single O.G. part) that was JUNK for a lot of money. to cut a long story short the car would require a full rebuild to make it driveable(there was a 3/4" difference in wheelbase from left to right!) and shifty russell wanted to take the car back to georgia (?) to the guy that messed it up in the first place for re working.the whole deal was shifty with 3 separate cheques (most likely to dodge the tax man and hide the rest after he got busted) while everyone was trashing him on the hamb he kept popping up with all different id's (tracedback to the same ISP) saying how great the company was and how he(whoever he claimed to be) and his uncle or whoever else had found them reasonable to deal with blah blah blah.(meanwhile they are charging people to view their cars) the seller of this coupe dodging questions about floors etc with thin excues like that tells me this bloke could be one and the same. be careful on this one!0

Guys (and Gals!),
I said it before and I'll say it again. I know these people personally. The father was/is a member of the HET. They don't have a Russell working for them. They have been in business for at least 16 years (my oldest is 17 and we took her there when she was one). and - They don't sell junk -.
Sometimes their products are a little pricey but they're capitalists! I can't blame them for trying to make a living. That can be a problem when the rest of us view this as a hobby. my $.02.

If that is so, why no pics of the underside as was requested?0 -
Did not sell. When I made my second request for pics of the underside and any info on the condition of the floor and frame I said you will not sell this car or even make the reserve without it. I was interested in the car but I am in Canada and I can better make the decision to go see the car if I was going to buy it. Would be pissed if I flew in and the frame was rotten.0

You make a good point. Although customer satisfaction should be a priority, disclosure (written and in the form of photos) is a must if a seller wants to avert possible litigation. llinois disclosure laws do apply to automobiles. Therefore, if a seller (or their agent) is aware of a deficiency, they must disclose it.0
