Sparton Bugle Horn Maladies?

As a sort of humorous sidebar to the Saturday towjob episode, while we were maneuvering the Hudson in preparation to load it onto the flatbed towtruck, the newly installed Sparton Bugle horn went crazy. I have had this horn on the shelf for years and had installed it once briefly on the '26 but removed it when it went off by itself, unbidden and continued to cycle until the hot wire was removed.

My assumption at the time was that I must have miswired it. It has three terminals and I choose terminals by guess & by golly. Now I have found a bit on the internet that shows the terminals and it is wired correctly. The horn tested fine, but just went off unexpectedly until the fuse was pulled. There has to be something wrong internally.

Does anybody know anything about these horns? Is there a set of points that are sticking or something of that nature? How can it be rectified?
