Re: [HSS] Gas sending unit

I just had them rebuild two of mine and received them
Saturday. One has the beveled gears ('30) and the other has stamped flat gears
that meet at a 90 degree angle ('31). They charged $333 for the restoration and
took about 5 weeks. They look very good to me. A couple of years ago I got one
of their new ones on Ebay for $95 - a real steal by comparison. They are a bit
expensive but do good work. They also can restore the oil level gauge sending
unit. I also had my gas tank cleaned and internally coated with an aircraft tank
coating here in central Illinois - they did a very good job. They also warned
that when gassing up to be very careful that the fueling nozzle does not cut
into the coating as a separation may begin at that point and proceed further
into the tank. One final point, check with the repair shop and find out if they
also have an external glossy black paint/coating that can be applied (4 to 6
coats - each 90 degrees from the previous one) to seal it from external rust. I
don't know yet what the stuff is but it seems like a ceramic. I will post the
brand etc. if I can find out - the repair guy said he is not supposed to sell it
- no label on the 3/4 pint I got. They use it on modern car gastanks that are
rusty and thinning.

Subject: [HSS] Gas sending unit

I just got my sending unit from JF Sullivan $355.20
included shipping.(6 weeks) So today I pulled my tank out and going to take it
where Paul took his for cleaning and sealing. I have my sending unit out and I
am going to send it to have rebuild I havent tried the new sending unit yet
but I will let you know how it works. It has a different gear set then the
(original?). I took a couple of pictures of them both if any of you are
interested to see them I can email. The new one looks like a rebuild but looks
good. I am on my way to a Hudson drive real soon..I hope.. X Fingers
