They are a bit expensive but do good work. They also can restore the oil level gauge sending unit. I also had my gas tank cleaned and internally coated with an aircraft tank coating here in central Illinois - they did a very good job. They also warned that when gassing up to be very careful that the fueling nozzle does not cut into the coating as a separation may begin at that point and proceed further into the tank. One final point, check with the repair shop and find out if they also have an external glossy black paint/coating that can be applied (4 to 6 coats - each 90 degrees from the previous one) to seal it from external rust. The "special" coating was used because even after I applied three coats of an etching primer plus three additional coats of a trim paint, after two weeks I had rust bleed through. I do not want to have to redo the tank again for a long time so a few extra steps now are a small investment. I also used this stuff on the external surface of the oil pan - 5 coats - after I had 23 pinholes burnt out and welded over to fill them. We then used a grinder and emery cloth to smooth the surface back to an acceptable appearance prior to coating. Apparently there are rust susceptible areas that either need replacing or extra care to preserve.

> By now all those who ordered water pump packings should have received them, and your Super Sixes will be resting quietly in dry beds at night! One thing I have been thinking about - why do the rear glands leak more than the front ones, and the likely reason is generator misalignment. If the two shafts are out of alignment, it will set up a vibration at the joint, which will reflect forward to the bronze bush in the pump body and of course the packing. So it would be a good idea to take off the flexible coupling, loosen the generator clamp and slide the generator forward and see how it aligns with the water pump shaft. It should be exactly in line, both horizontally and vertically. If not, loosen off the three 7/16" bolts that hold the starter / generator mounting plate, and align the two shafts. If it is out vertically, there are threaded plugs in the crankcase flange which the mounting plate sits on, and you can adjust these up and down. It would be interesting to get

If you could email the pictures to me I sure would apreciate it. I like seeing other 1929 Hudsons. Is yours a custom or standard ? I also need to see how the top cloth and rain gutter and cloth over the sun viser is installed on a 4 door standard. sultans@webtv.net Thanks Ron
