Re: [HSS] Vacuum Tank Plumbing

Looks pretty well okay, apart from the tap, which originally had a flare

fitting, but hey, I won't tell on you! Also the vacuum fitting originally

had a booster, which was essentially a venturi type fitting which sucked air

constantly through a very small orifice. this air went past the top of the

vacuum tank, creating a pressure difference, so in effect it worked on this

rather than engine vacuum. There is a by-pass to the wiper tube

incorporated. The advantage of this is that it will continue working even

when the engine is working hard and vacuum is low. However the tank will

function pretty well even without it - I don't have one on my '29 Hudson,

nor on my Essexand have never had any prpoblems, but we don't have forty

mile hills over here either!
